CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) и диплом DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults).

I was born in Canada but lived in England for quite a long time. So I speak ‘American’ and ‘British’. I’ve been a teacher for nearly 14 years. When I started I didn’t have students who were born in the 80’s, and now I have ones who were born in the 90’s. Ouch! I enjoy teaching very much but I’m not such a good learner of foreign languages. I find Russian very difficult! However, living in St. Petersburg means I can enjoy Russian culture. My favourite place to visit is the Russian museum to look at great works by native painters. I support Zenit but I’m still on the side of Canada when Russia plays (and beats!) my country at hockey. I find Russians warm and friendly and plan to live here indefinitely.

I grew up in the Sonora desert not too far from the Mexican-American border, but I never really liked all the sun and warm weather. So when I was 18 I moved to Oregon, where it rains most of the time. After a year or so I decided to try studying in England since I thought it might be a little colder, but it wasn’t cold enough and a year later I found myself in Scotland. Scotland was nice for a while, but eventually I got used to the weather there too. Saint Petersburg was the logical next step and I came here to study and then to teach in 2004. So far I haven’t been disappointed.

Hiya, I’m Derek, a Londoner who’s got roughly 16 years English teaching experience and more recently Spanish as although you wouldn’t think of it by looking at my name, I am, in fact half Spanish and English. My mum was born in Madrid, Spain and my dad London, England. I’ve worked in many countries, including Germany, Italy, Spain and Now Russia. Why Russia? Why St Petersburg? You may well ask, is it the weather? Actually not really. My Mediterranean blood keeps telling me to go south. Is it the people? Not exactly, there are good and bad everywhere, although I’ve met some good friends in the time I’ve been here. Is it the architecture? Not really, it depends where you look. Is it the nightlife and culture of the city, and I guess here the answer’d be, yes. So, to appreciate fully the benefits that this city has to offer, I’m going to stay teach and learn more of this lovely language and culture.

I have been teaching English in various countries for over eight long years. During this time I have taught in the U.K., France, Vietnam, Australia, and Russia.

In the little free time I have which isn’t taken up sharing pleasantries with shop assistants or discussing the finer points of international law enforcement with St. Petersburg’s finest boys in blue, I enjoy watching films and reading.

I’m originally from Manchester in England, but have been living and teaching here in St. Petersburg for just over one year. Prior to moving here I used to live in Los Angeles where I worked as a script writer and an actor. The stage had always been a passion of mine and after completing my degree in English and film I decided to set sail for the brighter shores of California. During my time there I managed to appear in several high profile movies and many highly rated television serials; albeit in minor parts.

Life in Hollywood is certainly unforgettable experience, one I shall cherish. Eventually, however, the glamour of the Los Angeles lifestyle, rubbing shoulders with celebrities and working within the film industry had begun to wear off. I was starting to feel “unfulfilled”. Having always been a spontaneous person I decided it was time for a drastic alternations in my life. I wanted to experience many different things. So I decided to spend my life traveling. The initial conception was to travel the world; living in a different city and country each year (for as long as would be feasible). My first stop was St. Petersburg and I instantly fell in love with this city. I’m proud to call here my new home and honestly believe I will be happy living here for many more years.

I have been teaching English for over 4 years now. My financial education and Teacher Training courses have also made it possible to handle Business English as well as conversational English courses.
Born into mixed family of South African and Nigerian parents, I’ve always wanted to know what it feels like to live and interact with people of different cultural backgrounds. You know the ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’, the food, the taboos. When I first came to St.Petersburg, I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t even know if I was going to survive the winter season.
Now  I find the place exciting; and Borsch will always be my favourite thing.

I grew up in a small town outside Cambridge and was, as a child, fascinated by spies, snow and the Soviet Union which is probably why I ended up studying Russian and Slavonic Studies at University. After graduating I decided to return to St. Petersburg to teach. I’ve now been teaching English for almost ten years including two years spent in Spain getting a suntan and working as a teacher trainer. In the end, though, Pelmeni beat Paella in my heart’s affection and I came back again to Piter.
